Custom software development

Custom software for businesses that have outgrown spreadsheets

ShiftedLabs builds custom software for small and mid-sized companies whose existing tools no longer fit how they work. We start by building the smallest useful working version on your real data, usually within a couple of weeks, so you can judge the value before committing to a full build. You own the code, the data and the accounts.

Who it's for

Established and growing businesses held back by tools that do not fit: a generic CRM, a pile of spreadsheets, or several SaaS products that do not talk to each other.

Signs your current tools are failing

  • A critical process runs through a spreadsheet that only one person fully understands.
  • People retype the same information into two or three different systems.
  • You pay for software you only use a fraction of, because nothing does the whole job.
  • Reporting means exporting to Excel and reconciling by hand.
  • New starters take weeks to learn the workarounds rather than the work.

What we build

  • One system built around your actual process rather than a vendor’s idea of it.
  • Imports from whatever you are using now, so day one is not a blank database.
  • Role-based logins, so people see what they need and nothing else.
  • Dashboards and exports that match how you already report.
  • Integrations with the accounting, payroll or scheduling tools you are keeping.

What a sensible first version looks like

A single workflow, end to end, on your real data. Not a prototype with dummy records — the actual thing, narrow enough to ship in weeks and real enough to judge.

Start with the smallest thing worth proving.

When not to build this

If your process is genuinely standard, buy the standard tool. Off-the-shelf software is cheaper and better supported when your needs match it. Custom software earns its keep when your data is unusual, when you are paying people to maintain it by hand, or when you are stitching three products together to run one process.

Typical integrations and data

  • Accounting and payroll
  • Email and calendar
  • Payment providers
  • Public and government data sources

What happens after launch

We host it, monitor it and keep improving it. Most systems we build run on Netlify and Supabase for a few euros a month, so the running cost is not the reason a project dies.

Ownership: you own the code, the data and the accounts. We can host and maintain it, but it is yours.
